Halfords is one of the UK’s biggest electric bike stores. That’s right, Halfords’ electric bike choices are just as good, if not better, than those at other UK stores.
We ranked all of Pure Electric’s electric scooters by quality last year. For people who don’t know, Pure Electric is one of Halfords’ main rivals.
Although Halfords does sell e-scooters, we’ve chosen to focus on their electric bike selection for a number of reasons, the main one being:
An association between Halfords and bikes exists.
The reasons for this are A) they are very cheap compared to other stores and B) the store provides full repair and general bike care services.
We’re not trying to put down any bike companies or make fun of Halfords for the e-bikes it sells. Here at BuyAnything, our goal is to make the buying process easier for you if you can’t decide between two choices.
We’ve had Halfords for a very long time. Well done on changing to meet riders head-on.
Let us move on now. Sorted by worst to best
The official Halfords rankings for electric bikes
You know the score. Every Halfords electric bike presented has been carefully analyzed and ranked accordingly. There are over 25 Halfords electric bikes to choose from, just to put this all into perspective.
Disclaimer: E4TP has not been paid by any of the electric bike brands mentioned here, or by Halfords. The order has been chosen by us and is influenced by our own thoughts and opinions.
With each entry, you’ll find the price and electric range of the e-bike in question. We’ll also state whether or not the bike folds, as some do, like the Carrera Crosscity Electric Bike.
We should mention that the prices listed are subject to change. The retailer runs sales all the time, which could move some of these Halfords e-bikes up and down in the rankings. Some might be out of stock when you go to look too. Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do about that. It’s like we said, Halfords is a very popular retailer.
10. Carrera Subway E Mens Electric Hybrid Bike
On the surface, the Carrera Subway E Mens Electric Hybrid Bike looks to be a pretty impressive electric bike from Halfords. It sports a very unique look, but it’s the range that lets it down. You see, the 40 miles of electric range shown is simply that: shown. Reviews for this bike state that the range is geared more towards the 25 miles and under the mark. And for a bike that costs over £1000, you’d expect better.
- Price: £1099
- Max Range: 40 Miles
- Does It Fold: No
9. Carrera Impel Im-1 Electric Hybrid Bike
A Hyrena 36V 250W rear hub motor and a 367Wh battery power this Carrera e-bike, which has an electric range of up to 50 miles. It’s a good electric ride at a good price, but it’s not as powerful as some other Carreras on the market, and it’s a bit heavy, which can be a problem for some.
- Price: £1099
- Max Range: 50 Miles
- Does It Fold: No
8. Apollo Transport Electric Folding Bike
The Apollo Transport is the first Halfords folding electric bike that we’ll talk about. It’s a cool two-wheeler to have if you want something small.
The 20-inch wheels give you a lot of support while you’re traveling, and the strong V-breaks give you a lot of control. It comes with a kickstand too!
The bad thing about this e-bike is that it looks bad. There is a lot that could be done to improve the grey and blue color scheme and the controller on the handlebars.
The Apollo Transport is also not even close to as powerful as some of the other folded bikes that the UK store sells.
- Price: £799
- Max Range: 20 Miles
- Does It Fold: Yes
7. Voodoo Bizango-E Shimano Electric Mountain Bike
We have just the Halfords electric bike for you if you want one that can do a lot of different things.
You can fight your way up and down even the toughest trails with the Voodoo Bizango-E Shimano. This electric bike has four main ways to help you: Boost, Trail, Eco, and Off
- Price: £2199
- Max Range: 40 Miles
- Does It Fold: No
6. Carrera Impel Im-3 Electric Hybrid Bike
The Impel series’ most pricey model, but the best in terms of range and speed.
Although the Carrera Impel Im-3 has the same type of motor as the others (a Hyena Rear Wheel Motor), its battery is bigger (496Wh), which lets it go farther and makes it look so easy.
Additionally, it has an amazing 45NM of torque that starts working as soon as you start pedaling.
The battery that is included in the stem of the bike is easily one of the best things about the Carrera Impel Im-3. Getting the battery out isn’t hard, and it blends in perfectly with the frame.
So, it’s the most expensive Impel, but it’s still less than £2000.
- Price: £1499
- Max Range: 75 Miles
- Does It Fold: No
5. Raleigh Felix Step-Through Electric Hybrid Bike
We’re aware of it.
We weren’t too impressed with some of Halfords’ other step-thru electric bikes. However, none of them is as good as Raleigh’s Felix Hybrid Bike.
This hybrid bike’s build quality is what we like most about it. A sturdy aluminum frame and the 60mm spring fork respond very quickly to the rider’s commands.
also has a Bosch Active Line Mid Drive motor, which is one of the best motors ever.
Although it’s a small thing, we also really like the cream color.
- Price: £1900
- Max Range: 60 Miles
- Does It Fold: No
4. Boardman HYB 8.9E Hybrid Electric Bike
60 miles of electric range and only three hours to charge? Yes, these Boardman HYB 8.9E bikes are unique.
We thought it was interesting that both bikes (men’s and women’s) were well-balanced. The two weigh the same (15.5 kg), but one usually weighs more than the other. They also have pretty much the same range and features.
There will be differences in sizes, but it’s nice to see two bikes that are equally good for men and women.
- Price: £2199
- Max Range: 60 Miles
- Does It Fold: No
3. Raleigh Felix+ Crossbar Electric Hybrid Bike
If you like the thrill of the ride, the Raleigh Felix+ Crossbar Electric Hybrid bike is the best choice.
We like everything about it, from its long-range to its sensor technology. Because it takes so long to charge, it’s not even close to the top three.
From my point of view, having to wait six to seven hours is way too long. The electric bike is also 25.5 kg heavy, which is too heavy for smaller users.
Even so, we still think it’s good enough to put it in sixth place on our list of Halford electric bikes!
- Price: £1399
- Max Range: 60 Miles
- Does It Fold: No
2. Assist Hybrid Electric Bike
One of the best-reviewed electric bikes Halfords has to offer, it’s cheap, and it fits in most places.
Sure, it doesn’t have as much range as some of the other choices, but that’s not what makes it interesting. Also, 20 miles should be plenty for a bike that is only meant for short trips around town.
This electric bike is one of the best in the world, and it’s even better that it’s sold by the best bike shop in the UK.
That’s why the Assist Hybrid Electric Bike is one of our ten best bikes.
- Price: £499
- Max Range: 20 Miles
- Does It Fold: No
1. Voodoo Zobop E-Shimano Full Suspension Electric Mountain Bike
The Voodoo Zobop E-Shimano was really tough to beat for second place.
There are 4.9 stars on the site for this Voodoo mountain bike right now, and it’s easy to see why. It’s an electric mountain bike with a range of 60 miles, a Shimano Steps Central Motor, and a strong and comfortable full suspension frame.
You’ll keep going back to that bike. The cost was the only reason it didn’t make our top list.
Bicyclists who want something a little cheaper will not buy a bike that costs close to £3,000.
Don’t get us wrong—this e-mountain bike is still a lot less expensive than some bikes from bigger brands. But we thought there was something better from Halfords.
- Price: £2,999
- Max Range: 60 Miles
- Does It Fold: No
